Sunscreen – not only does sunscreen protect our skin from the sun and light, it also acts as a barrier for the skin to minimise pollutants being able to penetrate compromised skin throughout the day, acting like a shield.

Hyaluronic Acid – HA is a perfect hydration solution for all skins, but especially perfect for teenage skins as the humectant will draw hydration into the cells without congesting. A hydrated skin is less likely to overproduce sebum, which reduces oil flow.

Niacinamide – A key ingredient for regulating sebaceous activity and cell regeneration, promoting skin function and health.

Quality homecare – Having the teen using a quality cosmeceutical homecare product range will promote healthy function of the skin when used correctly. As skin clinicians, we know what is safe for a younger skin, but less is more with teens!

Diet – Eating a healthy and balanced diet is important for teens. There have been studies to show that certain foods are linked to creating congestion, breakouts and acne such as daily and oily foods. We are what we eat!

Exercise – increases blood circulation which in turn boosts the cellular renewal rate and aids in the expulsion of toxins from the body.

Client Education – educating the client in a simple and easy way on how to use their homecare is a great way to ensure they are using the products correctly. We can also teach them how to perform extractions in a safe manner to minimise PIH (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Both intrinsic and extrinsic factors (Genetics, diet, lifestyle, and underlying hormonal disorders) as well as age can impact the skins function.

As we know, sebum keeps our skin looking and feeling hydrated, supple and young, so with a teenage skin, we do not want to dry the skin out, we want to hydrate with water not oil and control the sebaceous flow, not stop it. We hydrate teen skin with water based product because we do not want to further congest the skin with oil based products.
