It is recommended  prior to your treatment to:

• Avoid using active ingredients on your skin for at least 12 hours.
• Not use retinol (vitamin A) during the treatment.
• Any hair removal required in the area should be performed at least the day prior, including beard shaving.

If you’re on any acne or light-sensitive medications, using a topical acne medication, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, please let your therapist know.

After your treatment, please follow your skin therapists' advice, including:

• Daily application of SPF is highly recommended after each treatment and during your course of treatments.
• Makeup can be applied immediately post treatment if desired.
• Post treatment redness or erythema may occur but will be very temporary and subside quickly.

Lumixa utilises Fluorescent Light Energy (FLE) which is a hyper-pulsed light, targeting multiple layers of the skin at once. FLE stimulates biological processes in the skin to activate the skin’s own regeneration mechanisms. It’s amazing for controlling and minimising redness, producing collagen, and enhancing your skin’s glow, bringing dull skin back to life! Lumixa gel contains a patented fluorophore – a chemical compound excited by light. It has a specific energy profile that improves Inflammageing and its symptoms. It’s effective at settling skin reactivity and stress, preventing and combating inflammation, and regenerating and revitalising the skin.

BLUE LIGHT - targets bacteria and has anti-inflammatory effects

GREEN LIGHT - targets fibroblasts and induces healing processes

YELLOW LIGHT  - Reduces redness, swelling and boosts circulation

RED LIGHT - Boosts blood circulation and increases collagen production

Lumixa is suitable all skin types, however  If you’re on any acne or light-sensitive medications, using a topical acne medication, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, these may be contraindicated to your treamtent and you should let your Complete Skin & Beauty therapist know immediately.

Lumixa offers treatments which utilise innovative technology called Fluorescent Light Energy (FLE). FLE works through photobiomodulation. While LED is a continuous type of light, FLE is a hyperpulsed light which facilitates superior cellular interaction. LED light uses the properties of one single colour (wavelength) at a time. FLE covers a very wide spectrum of wavelengths at the same time. Blue from the LED light and green, yellow and red from the FLE generated. FLE interacts with different receptors in the epidermis and dermis.

The standard protocol is 1 weekly session for 5 weeks.  Lumixa treatments are non-invasive and suitable all year-round.

Main treatment area is the face, not including the neck.   However the neck and decolletage or the hands can be treated.   These are separate treatment areas and will require a separate service booked for these areas.   

The term “Inflammageing” refers to a continuous, low-level and asymptomatic inflammatory process associated with ageing. This inflammatory response can gradually cause damage to skin tissues through dehydration, skin matrix weakening, collagen and elastin degradation, skin barrier impairment and solar lentigo.

Chronoageing is intrinsic ageing. It is responsible for loss of volume, alteration of the skin texture and dry skin.

With no downtime, Lumixa allows you to go back to your daily life straight after the session. Make-up can also be applied to the skin immediately afterwards.

There are very few side effects with Lumixa. In sensitive skin, mild erythema may be observed due to the heat. Darker Fitzpatrick Skin Types may experience a mild bronzing/darkening of the skin which dissipates after the treatment course.

Contraindications are not linked to Lumixa per se but to the device being used to activate it. However, we recommend not to use retinol (or vitamin A) during the treatment since it can produce major sensitivities.

Results vary depending on the treatment protocol and skin condition. Some patients see an improvement on redness after just one single session. In most cases, major improvements are noticeable during the last couple of weeks of a 5 week, standard treatment protocol. Since Lumixa stimulates the skin’s biological processes, it continues to improve the skin in the weeks following the end of the treatment protocol. 

We like to see our clients return after 12 weeks for follow up photos and to compare results from the start of their course of treatments.

Efficacy and safety of Lumixa has not been tested on pregnant or breast-feeding women. Consult a doctor if considering using Lumixa if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant during the treatment or are breast-feeding.
