Lash Designs....What's best for my eyes?

Lash extensions can enhance and transform a person’s whole face. It’s true when people say you become addicted to them. You may be asking yourself, how do I know what type of lashes are best for me? There are many different types and styles of lashes and that can be a little overwhelming for some people to start with, so here’s a little guide to find the right lashes for you.

First things first; you have to decide what you want to end result to be. At Complete Skin & Beauty, we offer several different lash services including silk individual lashes, volume, hybrid, and Russian volume lashes.

Silk Individual Eyelash Extensions

Silk eyelash extensions are applied to one natural lash at a time. The lashes that are applied are available in a variety of thicknesses and lengths and silk individual eyelash extensions are an ideal lash option for someone with plenty of natural lashes who wants to add more length or more curl to their natural lash.

Volume Eyelash Extensions (3D, 4D, 5D)

Volume eyelash extensions provide a look halfway between the classic set of individually applied lash extensions and the Russian volume set, resulting in a natural look because the lashes applied are less uniformed similar to natural lashes. This service uses fine multiple lashes, in a fan of 3-5 lashes applied to your natural lash.  Volume eyelash extensions provides a full, fluffy set of lashes that can be designed from natural looking to quite dramatically full depending on the volume of lash used and the desired look.

Hybrid Eyelash Extensions (3D, 4D, 5D)

Hybrid eyelash extensions are a mixture of Silk Individual Lashes and Volume lashes. This eyelash service is perfect for those who have medium to full natural lashes but want to fill in some gaps or sparse areas.  Hybrid eyelash extensions will add more length to the natural lashes and fill out any gaps with the volume (3D, 4D or 5D) lashes. Hybrid lash extensions are ideal for those who still want a fairly natural look, providing slightly longer and more even lashes.

Russian Volume Eyelash  Extensions

Russian eyelash extensions are a specialised technique where two or more lashes are attached to one natural lash.  The eyelashes applied are ultra-fine and feather-light which allows several lashes to be applied to the one lash, providing the most voluminous look possible. Russian extensions can be completely customised to your lash look, as each individual fan of lashes is hand-made by your lash artist to give you both complete control over your final look.

Now what style will look best for your eye shape?

  • Close set – these eyes have less space in between them. The goal here is to create the illusion of width. To achieve this, there should be exaggerated length and curl on the outer portion of the eye. A cat lash map could achieve this. Use smaller lashes that get longer towards the outer edge of the eye to give the illusion of a wider area between the eyes.
  • Deep set - These eyes are large and set deeper into the skull, creating the illusion of a more prominent brow bone. The goal with this eye shape is to ‘bring out’ the eye. Length should be evident from the outer eye to ¾ towards the inner eye.
  • Almond eye - These eyes are the ideal eye shape for eyelash extensions. Using longer lash extension lengths for ¾ of the eye, tapering to shorter lengths in the inner corner for a dramatic or flared look on the outer portion of the eye.
  • Hooded - These eyes feature an extra layer of skin that droops over the crease, causing the lid to appear smaller. As the layer of skin will usually be from the mid area to the outer eye, the focus should be on creating length in the inner and mid parts of the eye.
  • Monolid/ Asian - the lid for this eye shape is usually flat on the surface and doesn’t have a prominent crease. The brow bone is less defined. The focus on this eye shape is to create a slight lift and flare on the outer eye. The lengths chosen shouldn’t differ too greatly from each other, especially if the client has naturally straight and short lashes of the same length. Curled lashes are a good choice for these eyes.
  • Prominent - Protruding eyes create the appearance of projected lids in the eye socket area. For this shape, it’s recommended to only slightly increase the length. If very long extensions are placed throughout most of the eye, this can make the eye look even more prominent. Lash extensions that are only slightly longer than the client’s eye, and have more of a curl, will balance this shape.
  • Round - This shape has both a curved upper and lower lash line. To balance this shape, length should be at the longest in the mid-portion of the eye and taper to shorter lengths on the inner and outer corners.
