IPL Hair Reduction

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a broad-spectrum light that targets coloured substances in the skin. IPL can treat for Skin Rejuvenation or Hair Reduction purposes.  In relation to Hair Reduction, the light is attracted to melanin (the pigment of the hair) causing destruction to the hair follicle, destroying the root and stopping its regrowth over the course of treatments.

At Complete Skin and Beauty, we recommend a minimum of twelve sessions for the initial hair reduction course, performed every 4 - 6 weeks depending on the area being treated. Maintenance sessions are recommended every 6-12 months.

Some of the many benefits of IPL Hair Reduction are;

  • Semi-permanent hair reduction
  • Semi-permanent ingrown hair reduction
  • Perfect hair removal method for teens
  • Great for men that work outdoors, gym-goers, swimmers, truck drivers etc.
  • Great to minimise body heat and sweating with less hair growth.
  • Perfect for people who are time poor, no need to remove hair between sessions.
  • Less treatments in the long term compared to any other hair reduction method.
  • Same amount of time, if not faster, than a waxing appointment.
  • Non-invasive, filtered light, no UVA or UVB exposure.

What you need to know:

  • Shave the area being treated prior to appointment.
  • Do not wax, epilate, tweeze or use hair removal creams for six weeks before your first session, and do not use these methods throughout your course of treatment.
  • You may shave as often as you like between treatments.
  • Avoid sun exposure for 48hrs before and after your session, applying an SPF is paramount for your safety and results.
  • Attend your appointments when scheduled to ensure the best results.
  • No swimming, saunas or spas for 48hrs post treatment.
  • Avoid advanced skin treatments or injectables for 2 weeks post treatment, if in the same area.
  • Redness, inflammation and swelling can be expected and usually subsides quickly with the use of post IPL aftercare.
